Sterling Silver facts

Posted by on

Sterling silver is an alloy (which means mixture of metal). It contains a mixture of 92.5 % pure silver and 7.5% pure copper. In Australia there are fairly strict guidelines in relation to precious metal claims and as such all metal claiming to be sterling silver should have a 925 stamp on it.

It is important to note that Sterling silver does not have any nickel in it unlike silver plated base metal commonly used in costume jewellery which can cause skin irritations in some people.

Andrea Estelle Designs only use high quality precious sterling silver, pure silver, argentium and 9 ct and 18 ct Gold. There is no plated base metal ensuring that your jewellery will last with care and cleaning.

Additionally, the silver we use comes from reputable suppliers in Australia who use eco friendly recycled silver and metals.
