The Herkimer Diamond - Faceted by Mother Nature

Posted by on

The Herkimer Diamond is a name given to a beautiful double terminated quartz crystal found in Herkimer County, New York State. It is actually not a diamond, but has been given that name because of how it is naturally faceted.

What I find amazing about the Herkimer Diamond is that each little crystal has 18 naturally created facets on them and are double terminated, which means they have a point each end.

These are a remarkable creation by mother nature and should always be admired in their natural state, never cut or faceted by man.

These little pretties are about to be set in a ring and earrings. I will update the photos when they are done
